Well, not all of us have lower back pain but it is fairly common with girls that have Endometriosis and I am having a massive bought of it at the moment. I noticed it is definitely worse for me when I have my period, just after and of course during ovulation.
So, what can we do about it?
Well, lower back pain is directly related to our hamstrings. These are the bits that run behind the back of your legs. Can you touch your toes? Well, chances are pretty high that if you have lower back pain, that you can’t touch your toes. I know I can’t and haven’t been able to for years! Well, this is because your hamstrings are tight. So, what we need to do is stretch them more and get them loosened up.
Naturally, the best way to stretch is when you are all warmed up, like after a walk or after doing Yoga or in my case Badminton (yes I am strange). Usually the best time of day is at the end of the day – chances are likely that this is when you will feel that back pain anyways!
We kinda know that touching our toes is the obvious one but we can’t do that, so how do we get all the way down there when it hurts too much? Well, we get some help from a towel or stretchy elastic thingy or in my case a pashmina. – long and easy to hold onto!
Here are some exercises to try for yourself. This is me using my pashmina so enjoy!
Now I did these for the photographs to show you and when I came back up the stairs, the lower back pain was much better! I was impressed it worked so quickly.
Apparently we need to do this everyday, every night before we watch TV or chill out, for about 3months and our lower back pain will be much better. Hopefully, then we can touch out toes!
Naturally, Yoga is going to help you heaps with this one too! You will notice one of these poses is a Yoga pose – can you guess which one?
Yoga works wonders at stretching and alleviating tension!
