Colostrum and Endometriosis. Is there anything too this stuff?

Colostrum and Endometriosis. Is there anything too this stuff?

When you read about Colostrum on the internet they rave about its benefits. It lists things like rejuvenates your skin to help with wrinkles and ageing, boosts healing and the immune system and even improves our moods by improving serotonin and dopamine levels. Though this is all wonderful and the lists seem to be massive in terms of the benefits, I wanted to know whether it will actually help with Endometriosis, specifically.

So, what is it?

Colostrum is a mammary secretion produced just prior to birth and is released into the mother’s milk right after birth. It is designed to basically give the little calf the best nutrients, minerals and immune boosting tools to prevent it getting sick or frail.

Here is the list of benefits as indicated above:

  • A healthier and stronger immune system
  • Softer skin and reduced wrinkles
  • Increased muscle tone
  • Enhanced strength and stamina during exercise
  • More energy
  • Mental alertness and positive moods
  • Rapid healing of injured tissue
  • Increased resistance to viruses and auto-immune disorders
  • Support for cardiovascular function

The main benefits I was interested in was its connection to our Endometriosis. This is my understanding of how Colostrum would work for Endometriosis.

It essentially heals the digestive system by providing the body with Lactoferrin, which does heaps of other things but also balances our interflora in our digestive area. When these guys are working properly they will flush all the bad stuff out of our body as they should :)

When the digestive system is working properly, everything kinda follows from there. We get rid of toxins in the body, fight off bacteria and infection because our “waste disposal unit” is working properly. When we don’t have to constantly battle with toxins in the body, the liver can clean out the excess xenoestrogens quite easily. It is those excess toxins and xenoestrogens which cause inflammation in the body and ultimately every condition and symptom we experience with Endometriosis. Most of these symptoms are auto-immune responses, like hay fever or bladder inflammation. The body is over-reacting even though there is no real reason for it. This also explains the sore muscles, joints and aching back pain. It is all an “over-reaction” by the body.

So, how does Colostrum fix all of that? To start with it focuses on getting that digestive system to work properly. It then boosts the rest of the body with all the extra healing powers it needs. One of the key ones, which we totally under estimate is the ability to sleep well. Sleeping is when the body does it’s healing. Colostrum actually stimulates the serotonin and depomine hormones which help us sleep better. When we sleep well, we will heal faster….

Colostrum also has an amazing ability to detect whether the body is “over-reacting” and creating an auto-immune response in the body. It stimulates an underactive immune system and calms an over active one. Brilliant!

It goes without saying that Colostrum would fix all digestive issues, including IBS, bloating and wind. The biggest one it gets rid of is Candida with Endometriosis.

Colostrum has actually been used in other cultures for 100’s of years as it was recognised that anything given to a calf must be good!

There is heaps of information on Colostrum on the internet so have a read through some of these articles:

I can totally get why this would work for Endometriosis. It just makes logical sense. It fights every aspect of Endometriosis in one swoop! Read this article on Facebook.

I was really a little hesitant about it cos it comes from cows and the whole idea is to reduce dairy but this is different. Make sure you get a good source – New Zealand is good – we look after our cows here :) My friend owns this shop, so check it out: Mynaturalhealth.co.nz

So, guess what I bought today? :)

    Hi Melissa!

I’m glad you looked into Colostrum, as I wrote to you about it a few weeks before. I’m on my 2nd canister of Colostrum powder. My period will come soon, and I’m hoping the endo pain (pre, during and post menstruation) will be less than it was last month, and thus gradually decrease over the coming months. I’ve slowly started incorporating more vegetables into my meals. I’m slowly cutting meat out of my diet, have not touched beef..though still eating chicken and fish. Later will have to learn to cut down on rice (I’m Asian, rice is staple). Wish me luck! Oh and I also made the turmeric+ginger+honey+lemon drink you recommended! Love it!

There was heaps of things pointing me to look into Colostrum further – including you :) so I figured I better post an article about it. Well done on starting to cut stuff out. Rice should still be okay. Just add more fruit and veg :) Glad you liked my ginger drink! :)
